Good news, there are lots of resources available to you. 


The Texas Health and Human Services website can help you find your local mental health or behavioral health authority (based on where you live): 

DIRECTORY OF COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS


Publicly funded mental health clinics can offer various free and low-cost services, and tend to include things like including counseling, psychiatric services, crisis intervention, and support groups. They may also have specialty services like: 


  • Developmental Disabilities Services: offering programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as Early Childhood Intervention, autism services, and supported employment
  • Substance Use Services: supporting individuals in recovery from substance use disorders through person-centered and trauma-informed care
  • Primary Care: providing primary health care services
  • Veterans Services: offering specialized services are available for veterans and their families, addressing unique mental health and support needs
  • Supportive Social Services: including housing assistance, accessible pharmacies, and other social support services to help clients achieve stability and improve their quality of life

Child and Family Guidance

  • Mental and Behavioral Health Services: This includes screenings, therapy, medication management, and case management to help clients overcome obstacles and lead fulfilling lives.
  • Primary Medical Care: Comprehensive healthcare services are available to ensure the overall well-being of individuals and families.
  • Pharmaceutical Services: They offer a complete suite of pharmaceutical services to support the medical needs of their clients.
  • Counseling Services: Family, group, individual, and marriage counseling are provided, along with mental health-related support groups.
  • Parenting Skills Classes: These classes help parents develop effective parenting strategies and skills.
  • Play Therapy: Specialized therapy for children to help them express their emotions and resolve psychosocial challenges through play.


Jewish Family Services of Greater Dallas 

  • Mental Health Services: JFS offers clinical and therapeutic services for kids, teens, adults, and older adults. This includes counseling for depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and family or marital issues.
  • Food Pantry: An affiliate of the North Texas Food Bank, the JFS food pantry provides food assistance to families and individuals in need across various zip codes in North Dallas and Carrollton. 
  • Family Violence Intervention: They provide crisis intervention, safety planning, counseling, and support groups for victims of family violence, as well as professional help for abusers.
  • Career and Financial Services: JFS offers career counseling, job search training, resume support, and financial coaching. They also provide Microsoft Office training and host webinars on employment trends. 
  • Support for Older Adults: Services to help older adults remain independent, including virtual services and Kosher Home Delivered Meals.
  • PLAN (People Living Active Now): This program supports individuals with mental illness and their families, helping them lead meaningful lives in the community. 
  • Volunteer Opportunities: JFS engages over 1,700 volunteers annually, offering various opportunities for individuals and groups to contribute to the community. 


Irving Family Advocacy Center:

  • Free counseling for children, teens & adults
  • Spanish speaking counselors available


 Victim Intervention Programs (Parkland Hospital) 

  • Free counseling for women, men, teens & children over 4 years old who reside in Dallas County -Spainsh speaking counselors available
  • Evenings & Saturday's available
  • New clients may be waitlisted 


 Mosiac Family Services

  • Free counseling for all ages
  • Provide substance abuse programs
  • Classes on life skills & problem solving 


 North Dallas Shared Ministries:

  • Free counseling services
  • Appointment only (Mon-Fri)
  • Must be uninsured (ID needed)  


Open Path Collective Dallas: 

  • Serves clients who lack health insurance or whose health insurance doesn't provide adequate mental health benefits. Lifetime membership is only $59 


Southern Area Behavorial Healthcare:

  • Provide urgent and emergent physicatric care services • Accepts Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP, BCPS, United Healthcare, Self-Pay; Uninsured (Sliding Scale)

Here For Texas is a program by the Grant Halliburton Foundation that provides mental health and addiction resources for North Texans. Their services include:


  • Mental Health Navigation Line: A free helpline (972-525-8181) available Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., where trained navigators offer support and information about mental health services and resources1.
  • Online Resource Directory: A searchable database to find therapists, psychiatrists, treatment centers, support groups, and other mental health resources1.
  • Crisis Support: Information on how to get immediate help during a mental health crisis, including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline2.


They aim to make it easier for people to access the help they need for mental health and addiction issues.
